On February 9, 2019, My running buddy, Meagaan and I will be taking on the Mesa-Phoenix full Marathon. Our first one yet!
We decided late last year that 2019 was the year to make our running goals come true and wanted to get it done nice and early. (If I do nothing else in 2019, it will still feel like I’m winning.) When searching for the right race for us we looked for something a little off the beaten path. Maybe New York, Chicago, Boston, Berlin all seemed just a bit too big and too real to jump in for our first time attempting 26.2. We wanted a course that was relatively flat, and a location that wouldn’t be too cold or too hot. We also needed a race that did not require a qualifying time (first timers here!) and one that wouldn’t break the bank. My running buddy/friend/flight-attendant-classmate/inspiration found Phoenix for us, and we locked it in.
We’ve been training for months, sending each other screen shots of our runs, pushing one another when they need it (mostly it has been Meagaan pushing me) and gearing up to do what both of us have always dreamed of accomplishing.
